County Executive Spooked at Sneak Preview of Horseman's Hollow

Horseman's Hollow opens today at Philipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow.

"Horseman's Hollow is very scary," said Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino when he attended a sneak preview of the event, a Halloween-season attraction at Philipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow, on Thursday.

"Horseman's Hollow is just one of hundreds of fall's family-friendly events taking place right here in Westchester," Astorino said. "Why leave the area when you can find everything close to home?"

Horseman's Hollow, which debuted last year, is an outdoors and indoors night stroll where participants follow a narrow trail through a ghoul-infested corn field, haunted sheds and other spooky places where ghosts and frightening creatures await them. Costumed evil-looking actors and special effects including a computer-controlled spider provide scares at almost every turn.

Eventually the visitors enter the terrifying lair of the Headless Horseman.

"It's too scary for my kids (ages 8, 6 and 2)," Astorino admitted.
