Great Escape: Painting Pottery in Briarcliff Manor

Cue "Unchained Melody." It's time to work with pottery!

Remember the iconic pottery scene in the movie Ghost? Who knew working with pottery could be so memorable! While most of us won’t have an experience quite like that one, you can still make memories with pottery (and some paint) right here in Briarcliff Manor.

At on North State Road, you can walk into the store any time during business hours and choose from different ceramic items—anything from vases to coffee mugs. Then, you can select a design and choose the paint colors you want to work with. After that, you head back into the shop’s studio, where they say the next step is to simply “paint and relax.”

Painting in the studio costs $8 per person for the first hour, and $4 for each additional hour. (The pottery pieces will cost you extra, but all of the other materials and instruction you will need are covered in the studio cost).

Painting pottery is a calming experience, especially in those moments when you want to enjoy some alone time. But A Maze in Pottery also hosts parties and groups in the back of their studio, which means the activity could make for a fun afternoon with friends instead of a more quiet escape.

Five days later, you can head back to the shop to pick up your painted masterpiece.
