Mailboxes Damaged, Stolen Over Weekend in Briarcliff Manor
Village homeowners' mailboxes continue to be the target of criminal mischief.
Sixteen total mailboxes were reported damaged or stolen in the village over the weekend, according to the Briarcliff Manor Police Department.
Police records indicate a Nichols Place resident called headquarters at 11:36 a.m. on Sunday and stated his mailbox had gone missing overnight.
He further stated numerous other mailboxes in the neighborhood had been targeted.
Police officers responded to the neighborhood, where they tallied a total of 16 mailboxes were missing in the area, including from Nichols Place, Long Hill Road, Sleepy Hollow Road and other surrounding streets' properties.
Additionally, last Monday, a Hollowtree Road resident reported his mailbox had been ripped out of the ground and placed on the hood of his car by an unknown person.
The series of larcenies and criminal mischiefs are under investigation.
