Budget Summary: Mount Pleasant Plans to Stay Under Tax Cap

Preliminary figures show a $39.9 million budget for 2012.

Mount Pleasant's preliminary budget shows a tax levy increase of 1.88 percent, underneath the 2 percent tax cap earlier this year.

The total town budget in its preliminary stage totals $39,892,753. The town plans to raise $24,487,419 of the total through the tax levy, compared to $24,035,047 in 2011.

In summary, the budget includes general funds; a highway fund; fire district spending (including the ); ambulance services (includiing ); drainage, library, refuse, consolidated light, sewer and water districts.

The town has estimated $13,778,293 in revenues for 2012, beginning January 1.

New York State law mandates that the town board hold a public hearing for the proposed budget by December 10 and adopt the preliminary budget by December 20.
