New Director of Athletics Named at Pace University

Brown comes to Pace from Old Dominion University.

Mark R. Brown has been named director of athletics and recreation at .

"I am extremely excited about joining the Pace family. I want to thank President Friedman for entrusting me with this important responsibility," he said in a statement.

Before coming to Pace, Brown served as an associate athletic director of business and finance at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA for four years, and as assistant athletic director for the previous 14 years.

Brown holds a Masters Degree of Science from Old Dominion University.

At the Division I school, Brown was responsible for developing the annual $32 million budget and oversaw the athletic department's fiscal operations.

"I also want to thank my Old Dominion family," said Brown. "President Broderick, the Athletic Directors Jim Jarrett and Wood Selig have been excellent mentors to me."

During Brown's time at Old Dominion, the school launched a football team in 2009, after 69 years without any team. The two seasons saw sold out crowds with more than 19,000 fans per game.

Before working in collegiate athletics, worked with Norfolk Tides—a minor league affiliate of the New York Mets—as an assistant general manager, business manager and manager of customer service.

Pace University, a NCAA Division II member of the Northeast-10 Conference, offers 20 varsity sports.
