Officials: Tax Cap Without Mandate Relief is a 'Scam'

State, Westchester County and Mount Pleasant Republicans called for mandate relief in NY.

New York State and Westchester County Republicans stood alongside Mount Pleasant Supervisor Joan Maybury Monday to ask for mandate relief to coincide with the 2 percent tax cap, enacted last year by Governor Andrew Cuomo.

A Pleasantville family hosted a ceremonial signing of the bill last June, promising to control municipal and school taxes in the state.

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, New York State Senator Greg Ball (R, C — Patterson), New York State Assemblyman Robert Castelli (R-Lewisboro), Westchester County Legislator Michael Smith (R — District 3) and Maybury said they believe government will be unsustainable if state mandates, such as pension, continue to be coupled with a tax cap.
