Pace Athletes Excel in the Classroom

60 percent of the school's athletes earned at least a 3.0 GPA in the fall.

's NCAA Division II athletes have showcased their work ethic and discipline in uniform and in the classroom.

According to a statement from the university, "The Northeast-10 Conference announced 173 of Pace University's student-athletes to its Fall 2011 Commissioner's Honor Roll."

This figure represents 60 percent of the athletes earning a 3.0 or higher GPA in the fall semester.

Additionally, five Setters have achieved 4.0 grade point averages, including two graduate students:

  • Kevin Clark (Dunmore, PA)—men's basketball
  • Vinne Birkenmeyer (Wappingers Falls, NY)—men's tennis

As well as three undergraduates:

  • Senior Carol Johnson (New City, NY)—women's basketball
  • Junior Seanna Wright (Poughkeepsie, NY)—women's soccer, track & field
  • Sophomore Alexander Rough (Stamford, CT)—baseball

Additionally, 75 athletes achieved GPAs of 3.5-3.99 and 93 received averages in the 3.0-3.49 range.

According to the statement, "Pace saw an outstanding rise in student-athletes excelling in the classroom from the previous semester."

Overall, 17 percent more athletes were named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll this semester.
