Pleasantville Court: Felony Cases Head to Westchester County
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. All ages represent the date of arrest.
Here's a look at what happened during Pleasantville Court's February 21 criminal session.
Man Allegedly Involved in Hit & Run Has Multiple Open Cases
Sean Gillespie, of Mahopac, was arrested on February 12 and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
Gillespie, 35, was arrested on Pleasantville Road by Westchester County Police after he allegedly hit another vehicle on the Saw Mill River Parkway and left the scene. Police reported finding heroin and syringes in his vehicle.
He had previously been arrested by New York State Police in Yorktown on February 9 for driving while ability impaired. He is currently incarcerated in Westchester County jail. Gillespie's bail is set at $10,000 in Yorktown Court. Bail is no longer set in the Pleasantville matter.
Westchester County jail records indicate Gillespie also has a warrant out for violating his probation in another jurisdiction.
On Tuesday, Gillespie's case was referred to Westchester County Court for a felony hearing.
A control date of April 3 was set in Pleasantville Court.
Felony Hearing Set for Teen Defendant
Patrick Hopkins-Drago, 18, is charged with Robbery in the Second Degree, Assault in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fifth Degree.
The Pleasantville man was arrested on July 6, 2011 in connection with these charges after he allegedly mugged a 12-year-old minor.
He was again arrested on Dec. 30, 2011 and charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree and Petit Larceny.
He remains in custody.
On Tuesday, the July case was waived to a grand jury in Westchester County and closed on the Pleasantville calendar.
The second case will receive an SCI hearing in county court and was adjourned until May 5 in Pleasantville for control purposes.
Larceny Defendant Remains Incarcerated
Frederick Nelson, 58, is charged with Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree.
He was arrested on a warrant in August while incarcerated at Riker's Island.
Nelson, who remains incarcerated, appeared in Pleasantville Court yesterday.
He is also charged with Burglary in the Second Degree in Bronxville. He is incarcerated in Westchester County jail and being held without bail.
On Tuesday, Nelson's Pleasantville case was scheduled for a March 7 SCI hearing in Westchester County Court. A Pleasantville Court control date of April 3 was set in the matter.
