On Oct. 2, 2012, Robert Astorino, Westchester County Executive, honored 67 students and their teachers from schools throughout Westchester County who demonstrated academic excellence, fluency and a passion for the language as well as devotion and dedication to the study of the Italian culture. Pleasantville Middle School was represented by Jayson Calvi and his teacher Mrs. Julie Sillings.
This annual event was hosted by the Antonio Meucci Lodge in White Plains as part of the many events scheduled to be celebrated throughout October—Italian Heritage and Culture Month.
