Briarcliff schools are on a two hour delay this morning for a dusting of overnight snow. WHY? Would any of our employers tolerate a two hour lateness over a dusting of snow? As an employer, or manager, or supervisor, would you tolerate a two hour lateness over a dusting of snow? Is this really how we are preparing our kids for the real world? Reliability is an important attribute that is sorely lacking in many employees – especially the young ones. Let’s teach them that when there’s a dusting of snow, or even an inch or two, they pull on their boots, find gloves, scarf and hat and get out to the bus stop at the regular time - just like they’ll have to do in the real world to hold a job.
