Briarcliff Rotary Sponsors Presentation on Ayurvedic Healing

The Rotary Club of Briarcliff Manor is delighted to sponsor a presentation on a "Ayurvedic Medicine:  Some Secrets of An Ancient Science of Healing" on Thursday, September 19, 2013, at the Briarcliff Library at 6:30 p.m.  The presentation will be made by Dr. Ambika Nair, a sixth generation Ayurvedic physician from India.  Admission is free and open to the public, and a limited number of persons attending the program will be offered a free consultation by Dr. Nair in her clinic later.

Ayurveda, the knowledge of life and longevity, is the oldest, most comprehensive scientific discipline, a comprehensive health care system that has been practiced and refined since time immemorial.  The basic philosophy of Ayurveda is to raise awareness of lifestyle, diet, exercise and mental activities to achieve a perfect balance in mind, body and the soul for healthy living.  Ayurvedic healing focuses on uninterrupted physical, mental and spiritual happiness and fulfillment; in other words, Ayurveda concentrates on health, not disease.  While modern medicine prescribes drugs to cure specific maladies, Ayurveda focuses its attention on health, and on keeping the mind and spirit strong by orbiting the inherent vital strength with herbal remedies and natural invigorating methods.

Dr. Nair, the co-founder and Chief Consultant of Santhigram, holds various degrees and diplomas in Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Bach flower remedies and drugless therapy. She belongs to a traditional family of ayurvedic physicians and had been exposed to Ayurvedic principles from childhood.  With her traditional background in Ayurveda, she has developed a unique system of treatment integrating Ayurvedic & Panchakarma therapies, Homeopathy, Siddha and Bach flower remedies to treat a number of chronic ailments for which there are hardly any side-effect-free remedies in other systems of medicine.

A renowned holistic physician, Dr. Nair practiced in New Delhi, the capital of India, for nearly 25 years and has a very large clientele there.  She has served as the physician to the former President of India, Dr. K.R. Narayanan, the former Vice President of India Mr. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and many other VIPs and sports personalities.  She found solace in treating those ailments for which the modern system of medicine was not effective or was bound to provide lot of side effects. Her diagnostic skills are unique.   She has successfully treated a variety of problems for thousands of people in Delhi including many chronic ailments and infertility cases. In handling certain unique cases, her experience and knowledge was sought over by even specialist medical practitioners of prestigious institutions like All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, the premier medical college in India.

Dr.Nair has enriched the practice of Ayurveda with her exceptional clinical skills and untiring commitment to her patients.  She was associated with a number of social, cultural and charitable organizations in India; recognizing her services to humanity, she was awarded “Pride of the Country” award by Society of Industry and Business achievements, New Delhi, India.  Within a short span of 3 years in the United States, Dr. Nair has already won accolades including “Women of the Year 2012-13 Award” from National Association Professional Women (NAPW) and the NAMAM award from a New Jersey social organization.

The presentation is part of the monthly series on “Preventative Health and Awareness” sponsored by Briarcliff Rotary.  For further information, contact Kris Chittur, Chair,“Preventative Health And Awareness” Series, and Immediate Past President and Director, Rotary Club of Briarcliff Manor, at kchittur@post.harvard.edu.
