Briarcliff Rotary To Form Satellite Club

The Rotary Club of Briarcliff Manor is forming a satellite club for locals who desire to join the Club, but who find it a challenge to attend the Club's lunch meetings which currently take place on Fridays. Members of this satellite club would enjoy full benefits of membership in the Club, including membership in the District and in Rotary International, but would simply meet at a different time and place.

Rotary International, the world’s premier volunteer service organization, strives to foster networking of businesspersons and professionals committed to high ethical standards. Guided by the motto “Service Above Self,” Rotarians are involved in innumerable service projects, from the local, such as feeding the hungry in Westchester through the “Outreach” program, to the international, such as the monumental campaign to “End Polio Now” which, after 26 years of hard work, is on the brink of extinction from our planet. Simply put, Rotary is a phenomenal opportunity for FUN, FELLOWSHIP, AND SERVICE.

The Briarcliff Rotary is 32 years young and very active.  The Club installed almost every park bench in Briarcliff Manor.  It started an “ElderAct” Club for seniors here.  It runs a “Preventative Health and Awareness” program monthly at the Briarcliff Library, which is free and open to the public.  It sends to, and receives from, foreign countries Friendship Exchange Teams, wherein Rotarians and their spouses live with local Rotarians for about a week - a unique opportunity to experience the country and its culture firsthand, through the eyes and ears of locals, and form lasting personal relationships across the globe. What a breathtaking difference from the typical made-for-tourists filters through which we usually see places!

If you are interested in forming lasting friendships, networking with locals, contributing to the community (local or international), and/or participating in or even initiate projects for causes that you feel strongly about, this is an opportunity for you.  This satellite club is tentatively slated to meet for breakfast or dinner on Tuesdays.  If you desire to avail of this opportunity, please contact Membership Committee Chair K. Chittur at kchittur@post.harvard.edu.
