Former U.S. Navy Officer Joins Briarcliff Rotary

    The Rotary Club of Briarcliff Manor is delighted to announce that Mr. Sean Santiago, a former member of the U.S. Navy and currently a corrections officers at the Ossining Prison, has joined the Club.

    Mr. Santiago, 44, had a a 4-year tenure in the U.S. Navy as a Master Helmsman, small arms storage handler, and Gunner's Mate. He was awarded a "Letter of Appreciation" for professional achievement for his duties on a 5'/54 MK 45 Gun Weapons System. Also, he was awarded a Letter of Commendation for Services as a "Tiger Team" member from 22-28 August 2000.   He assisted fellow sailors during readiness of all vital engineering spaces while at sea.   He fulfilled his 4-year commitment with a "Good Conduct Medal and received a Honorable Discharge while on the Aegis Destroyer -USS McFaul DDG-74.

    Returning to civilian life, Mr. Santiago was employed by the U.S. Postal Services for about 1 ½ years.  Since 2006, he has been employed by the New York State Corrections Department, and is now posted in the third oldest jail in New York State (Sing-Sing).

   Mr. Santiago was sponsored by Rotarian Kris Chittur, Immediate Past President and Chair, Membership Committee, of the Rotary Club of Briarcliff Manor.   We welcome Mr. Santiago to the Club, and look forward to his participation in, and initiation of, Rotary projects at the local, national, and international level, and wish him many happy, fruitful years of “Service Above Self” at Rotary.
