Briarcliff Manor Celebrates Memorial Day in the 70s

Take a trip back in time with a former resident's anecdote.

From Louis Kleber, former Briarcliff Manor resident:

I live in the west now, where I grew up, but the 12 years in Briarcliff Manor during the 1970s and early 1980s remain some of the most enjoyable in my life.

Of course, many memories are of personal events, but Briarcliff had an aura of small-town America that gave it a special charm to go with its reputation as a great place to live in beautiful surroundings—the Pocantico River ran along the bottom of our garden.

There they were in their red, white and black uniforms, fifes and drums beating a Revolutionary War tune and  marching up Ash Road. I grabbed the camera and took this shot as they approached.

It was pure Americana.
