Children will have the chance to discover all the spices that compose a classic gingerbread recipe, using their senses while exploring in the Everett Children's Adventure Garden. "They’ll learn that cinnamon comes from the bark of a tree, ginger from an underground stem, and cloves from the buds of a tree."
Festive vignettes of a gingerbread town grace the walls of the Discovery Center, featuring numerous characters enjoying their holiday adventures.
Family activities include planting wheat seeds to take home, grinding spices into powder, and viewing a fragrant display of gingerbread houses made by New York City-area bakers. Children can decorate their own delicious gingersnap cookie with frosting and candies to munch on, and then play in a child-sized gingerbread outdoor playhouse in the Discovery Center Plaza.
