Get Out: Presidential Portraits; Search for Signs of Spring

A roundup of regional events for Presidents' Day weekend.

With a three-day-weekend for most on the horizon, avoid cabin fever and get out. This weekend's offerings include the circus in White Plains and an exhibit of presidential portraits in honor of the holiday.

Where/When: Teatown Lake Reservation, Sat. Feb. 19, 10 - 11:30 a.m.

Why Go: Spring is coming...no seriously. Teatown is already experiencing spring colors and buds, even birds are starting to chirp a happy tune for the season on the way. Check it out for yourself!

Where/When: The Black Cat Cafe; Saturday, Jan. 19 from 6 - 8 p.m.

Why Go: Get transported back to the decade of Betty Boop and Popeye with Josh Keller in Irvington. You'll be able to sit back and enjoy Keller's mix of jazz, pop and cowboy songs from the 1930s.

Where/When: ’s Arts Exchange, 31 Mamaroneck Ave. in White Plains; through March 5

Why Go: In honor of President's Day, check out more than 50 original portraits by Mount Kisco resident Alan Reingold, from Richard Nixon through President Barack Obama.

Where/When: ; Friday, Feb. 18 at 9:30 p.m.

Why Go: As part of JBFC's "Fridays After Dark" series, you'll be treated to an up-close look at song master Stephin Merritt's two-decade-long career.

Where/When: Feb. 19-21 at the County Center in White Plains. Shows at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Why Go: One of Westchester’s favorite shows only comes once a year. Thrills will include a human cannonball, acrobats, tigers, momma and baby elephant, trapeze artists and ATV Daredevils.
