Grab & Go Kids Planner: Maple Syrup and Acrobats

Check out awesome R/C vehicles, watch acrobats perform mind-boggling feats and play carnival games for charity.

If you’re scouting out this weekend’s kid-friendly activities, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s a selection of events to help you plan fun, budget-friendly outings.

Things going on in and around Pleasantville and Briarcliff Manor:


Where/When: Feb. 25-27 from 10 a.m. — 4 p.m. at the Westchester County Center
Why Go: Kids love to see R/C vehicles—especially super cool ones! More than 150 manufacturers will display the latest and greatest in radio-controlled cars, boats and planes.
Pricing: Adults $12, Children $3, under 6 free. Sunday 12 and under free!

Where/When: Sunday, Feb. 27 at 3 p.m. at the PepsiCo Theater at Purchase College
Why Go: Breathtaking acrobats balance on air, bend, twist and leap across the theater. Everyone will marvel as they witness magical maneuvers and watch as acrobats beat the clock with impossible stunts.
Pricing: $11.25 - $35

Where/When: Saturday, Feb. 26 at the Harvey School
Why Go: Bouncy stations, games, prizes, crafts, raffles and cotton candy will please the crowds. Kids can have great fun indoors, enjoy a hot dog & popcorn and tire themselves out. The WHUD fan van will be on hand with giveaways and chances to win a BIG prize. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society and the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
Pricing: Free admission. Games and amusements will be 50 cents - $2. Bring cash!

• Tapping the Sugarbush
Where/When: Saturday, February 26 from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. at Westmoreland Sanctuary in Mt. Kisco.
Why Go: My daughter’s always asking me why we can’t get maple syrup from the big maple tree in our backyard. Here’s a chance for kids to help staff with the process. They’ll learn to identify maples in winter, what kind of equipment is needed, and how to properly tap a tree to extract sap for making syrup.

•  Happy Birthday Elmo!
Where/When: Saturday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. at Borders Books and Music in Mt. Kisco
Why Go: The Sesame Street-set can enjoy Elmo-themed crafts.
