In Case You Missed It: Pleasantville-Briarcliff Manor Week in Review

Were you too busy preparing for Thanksgiving or getting in a Black Friday shopping line to tune into this week’s news in Pleasantville and Briarcliff Manor?

Here’s what you missed:

1. Thankful donations: The Briarcliff Teacher's Association (BTA) continued its annual tradition of running donation drives at Todd Elementary School, Briarcliff Middle School and Briarcliff High School during the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving. This year the BTA collected its biggest haul yet: 19 boxes of dry/canned goods -- approximately 750 pounds of food -- and $502. Per tradition, all of the donations are headed to the Ossining Food Pantry. 

2. Westchester radio legend passes away: Peak Radio’s Caroline Corley came to a sudden death Tuesday, Nov. 26. She had completed her radio show with the Peak (WXPK/107.1 in White Plains) that morning and returned home to Elmsford. As The Peak reported on the air Tuesday, she had felt dizzy and called for help. Responders were unable to revive her. 

3. Rotary Art Auction set: The Rotary Club of Briarcliff Manor will hold an art auction in the Briarcliff Manor Public Library on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m.  Items on hand will include sport and music memorabilia. Funds raised by the auction will be used for the Club's community service and international understanding projects. 

4. Pleasantville High School gardeners: Several students from the Pleasantville High School ISP group came out to help dig along the garden fence and plant daffodil and hyacinth bulbs in the soil this week.
