In Case You Missed It: Pleasantville-Briarcliff Week in Review

With the holidays upon us in full swing, you were bound to miss some top news this week in Pleasantville and Briarcliff Manor. But don’t worry, we’re here to make sure you don’t miss it twice.

Here are some of this week’s more notable headlines:

1. Snow Plans: Despite the year's first school cancellation on Tuesday, Dec. 10, snowfall has not put a dent into Pleasantville or Briarcliff Manor’s 2013-2014 school calendars – yet. 

2. Coen Brothers New Flick: “Inside Llewyn Davis” opened Friday, Dec. 13 at the Jacob Burns Film Center. The film has received overwhelming critical acclaim, registering a 94% “Certified Fresh” score on Rotten Tomatoes among nearly 100 reviews.

3. Raking in the Holiday spirit: Still fresh off the cleats of its 2013 season that ended in a Section I Class B championship, the Pleasantville High School Varsity Football team recently continued another tradition: giving back. 

4. What’s with our new homepage banner at Patch? What you see in the photo is a paper patchwork of memorial notes in Newtown, Connecticut. They were pulled together shortly after the elementary school shooting there. Last year, well-wishers from all over the world came to Newtown Patch by the thousands. One year later, it seems fitting that Newtown knows again that it’s not alone. We invite you to take a second and share a "Note for Newtown." 5. No Jail Time for Ossining Teacher: Former Ossining High School teacher John Azabache will not serve jail time, according to the Hudson Valley Reporter.
