Is Pleasantville One of the Best-Smelling Places on the Planet?

A recent GQ list ranks the village number two on its best scent spectrum.

What do Mumbai, Dallas, Rome and...Pleasantville have in common?

Not only is the Village of Pleasantville one of the best villages to live in Westchester County (according to Westchester Magazine), it may be one of the best-smelling places on the planet.

At least, that's what Chandler Burr decided in a post on GQ yesterday. In fact, the small village of approximately 7,000—according to the —ranked number two on the best-smelling list, right behind the "alluring" Los Angeles.

In his post, Burr wrote, "Maple, oak and pine smell cyclically different as the seasons turn, and Pleasantville's scent is based on these trees and their leaves at all stages—green, yellow, dead, brown and budding."

"Apologies to New Orleans (#3), San Francisco (#4), and Rome (#5)," wrote Pleasantville Mayor Peter Scherer in an email. "It's hard to beat a place called Pleasantville."

Also on the GQ "best" list (numbers 6-10): Bogotá, Mumbai, Mombasa, London and Dallas.
