The ticket price is a clue.

St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Scarborough will celebrate its 175th anniversary June 7 with an evening of live music, silent auction and light refreshments to celebrate the past and present.

And as a special theme, the church is honoring eight women from the parish who have been raised up in ministry:

  • Janet Broderick
  • Dorothee Caulfield
  • Kathy Corley
  • Ann Douglas
  • Nancy Hanna
  • Fran Holmes
  • Claudia Nalven
  • Betsy Roadman

"We are honoring women who were members who have gone on to be ordained in ministry," said the Rev. Sandra Seaborn. "We are also celebrating the 175th year since the founding as a school house for the children of aqueduct workers."

The cocktail reception runs from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the parish hall at 669 Albany Post Road in Briarcliff Manor.

St. Mary's was founded in 1839 to serve a growing community of settlers, first meeting in a one-room schoolhouse that was located on the corner of Sleepy Hollow Road and what is now Route 9.
