Future residents and friends gathered at site of last week to enjoy the annual barbecue.
The former Kings Colley site is currently being developed as "a distinctive fee-for-service continuing care retirement community," according to a statement from The Club.
When complete, there will be 325 apartments, townhomes and villas on the 59-acre campus for retirees.
A crowd of more than 100 was treated on August 8 to a special announcement at the barbecue: "the unveiling of a time capsule to be installed near the cornerstone at The Club’s groundbreaking."
Before King's College, the site housed the Briarcliff Lodge, which will be commemorated with a 1902 original brochure in the capsule. Items from The Club will also be included in the time capsule, including a virtual tour DVD.
