NEXT Charity Concert

Where/When: Captain Lawrence Brewing Company (444 Saw Mill River Rd. Elmsford) on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.

Why go: Chris Bro's concert series at Captain Lawrence continues with a performance by The Modern Electric this evening. The evening will include music starting at 8:30 p.m. and beer on tap in the tasting room. Tonight's concert will benefit the Pleasantville Community Scholarship Fund.

Awake and Sing! Previews

Where/When: Axial Theatre at St. John's Episcopal Church on Thursday, Oct. 18 and Friday, Oct. 19 at 8 p.m.

Why go: As its 14th season opens, Pleasantville's Axial Theatre is opening with the Depression-area production Awake and Sing! Check out previews today and tomorrow before the official opening night on Saturday. The show will run on Thursdays to Sundays through November 4.

Pricing: $20; $15 students and seniors; $35 opening night for all

Friends of the Briarcliff Manor Public Library Dessert Social

Where/When: Briarcliff Manor Public Library on Thursday, Oct. 18 from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Why go: Learn about the Friends and what they do for one of the community's largest resources. There are plenty of ways—big and small—to get involved. Refreshments will be served.

Pricing: Free

Pleasantville Home Garden Tour

Where/When21 Ashland Ave. on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why go: Take a self-guided tour of Jean Nonna's award-winning garden, as part of the Garden Conservacy's Open Days program. Proceeds from the tour will benefit the Garden Conservancy and the Friends of Rocky Hills.

Pricing: $5/person; free for children 12 and under

The Mitzvah Project

Where/When: Rosenthal JCC of Northern Westchester on Sunday, Oct. 21 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Why go: Middle and high school students are invited to play baseball with special needs through the Miracle League of Westchester. RSVP by emailing allison@­rosenthaljcc.­org.

Pet Adoption Day

Where/When: Thornwood Self Storage (950 Broadway) on Sunday, Oct. 21 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why go: Meet some of Pets Alive Westchester's adoptable animals this weekend and you could take home a new family member the same day. Dogs, cats and rabbits will be on-site.

Halloween Costume Swap

Where/When: Memorial Plaza gazebo in Pleasantville on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Introduction to Meditation

Where/When: Pleasantville Community Synagogue on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 9 a.m.

Why go: Rabbi Mark Sameth will be leading a free one-hour introductory class for people curious about meditation. All are welcome.
