The latest work from Ethan and Joel Coen has made its way to Pleasantville.
“Inside Llewyn Davis” opens this Friday, Dec. 13 at the Jacob Burns Film Center, along with a sneak peak showing Thursday, Dec. 12 at 10 p.m. The film has received overwhelming critical acclaim, registering a 94% “Certified Fresh” score on Rotten Tomatoes among nearly 100 reviews. The movie review site summarizes all reviews as the following:
Smart, funny, and profoundly melancholy, Inside Llewyn Davis finds the Coen brothers in fine form.
Critical acclaim is something the latest offering from the Coen brothers has grown accustom to, as it won the Grand Prix award at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival in March before being released in theaters on Dec. 6.
Despite the reviews, Jacob Burns is the only movie theatre in Westchester showing the film, which CBS Films describes as “following a week in the life of a young folk singer as he navigates the Greenwich Village folk scene of 1961. Guitar in tow, huddled against the unforgiving New York winter, he is struggling to make it as a musician against seemingly insurmountable obstacles.”
In addition to being directed by the award-winning Coen brothers, the movie stars musician and actors Oscar and Justin Timberlake as Llewyn Davis and Jim Berkey, respectively.
