Last Chance: Kids Theater Games, Briarcliff School District Committees

A roundup of upcoming deadlines for Briarcliff Manor and Pleasantville residents.

We know residents in Pleasantville and Briarcliff have busy lives, so we want to make things a little easier by reminding you about those approaching deadlines. Do you know of a deadline in the next week that's not included here? WHAT: The is seeking volunteers for its new committees: Building Compact Committees and the District Enabling Committee. Students, parents, school personnel and community members are invited to apply.

DEADLINE: Letters of interest must be mailed to the district clerk and arrive no later than Friday, April 6 or be emailed to jbrockett@briarcliffschools.org.

Theater Games Workshop

WHAT: Theater Games with Pleasantville's  on April 11 is open to kids in kindergarten, first and second grades. the 11 to 11:45 a.m. workshop will take place at the and teach kids basic theater and self-confidence skills. All participants will get to enjoy guided theater exercises and playful activities.

DEADLINE: The workshop is on Wednesday, April 11 and space is limited—so, the sooner the better! Register at the library.

WHAT: The Maryknoll Sisters are hosting a free event tonight, feauturing Maryknoll Historian Claudette LaVerdiere, author On the Threshold of the Future: The Life and Spirituality of Mother Mary Joseph Rogers. LAVerdiere will talk about the Sisters' 100th anniversary and ties to the area. The talk is being held at Holy Rosary School, 180 Bradhurst Ave. in Hawthorne.

Mother/Daughter Jewelry Classes

WHAT: Stefani Madura is teaching beaded jewelry mother-daughter classes through the this month. Register this week if you want to participate in the April 12 beading overview and two-strand necklace class. The class is held from 7 to 9:15 p.m. at the . All materials are included in the program.

DEADLINE: Register by Friday, April 6 for the April 12 class through the Recreation Department.

Dog Obedience Classes

WHAT: Sign up for the spring session of Briarcliff Manor's dog obedience classes this week. Beginners classes are from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays and intermediate classes are 8 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays. This session lasts from April 11 to May 30 and takes place at 48 Macy Rd. $110 for village residents, $120 for school district and non-village residents.

DEADLINE: Register by Thursday, April 5 at the Recreation Department.
