Your Weekend: Ragamuffin Parades and Memorial 5K
Villages get into the Halloween spirit this weekend.
Note: As of Friday, the Pleasantville Ragamuffin Parade has been rescheduled until Sunday and the Briarcliff Manor Ragamuffin Parade has been canceled. Entertainment will continue as planned at 10 a.m. in the Briarcliff Manor Fire Department.

Where/When: Pleasantville Road (begins at 1360 Pleasantville Rd.) and
Why go: Dress up and enjoy the community's Halloween spirit by marching in or cheering on ghouls and goblins in the annual Ragamuffin Parade. Entertainment for children will follow at the fire department, courtesy of comedy juggler Ned Gelfars. In the event of rain, the parade will be canceled, but the reception will continue as planned at 10 a.m. Every child in attendance will be given a Halloween treat bag!

Pleasantville Halloween Ragamuffin Parade and Harvest Day
Where/When: Lineup begins at at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29; parade starts at 12 p.m. and travels to Memorial Plaza (rain date is Sunday, Oct. 30)
Why go: Sport or check out an assortment of costumes at the parade and enjoy games, activities like pumpkin painting and face painting, refreshments and more at Memorial Plaza (and check out the farmers' market in the parking lot).

Kids Day at the Cottage
Where/When: (1253 Pleasantville Rd.) on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 3 to 5 p.m.
Why go: It's a full-on Halloween celebration at the Briarcliff Manor business, where kids can pick up a UNICEF box for trick-or-treating and enjoy an afternoon of costumed pumpkin painting, story reading and book signing by Laura Nadler Scott—author of Achoo!—and refreshments.
Pricing: Free
Where/When: on Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.
Why go: Get in the Halloween spirit by checking out a showing of the spooky movie adaptation of the Spidewick Chronicles (PG) the library. Bring your own treats to enjoy during the movie. The library warns the film may be "too scary for children under age 8."

Tina Gambino 5K Memorial Run/Walk
Where/When: Starts at on Saturday, Oct. 29 (registration begins at 7:45 a.m., race starts 9 a.m.)
Why go: Pleasantville's Tina Gambino is memorialized in the first 5K Memorial Run/Walk as his bar mitzvah project. Proceeds from the race will benefit the R.E.F.L.E.C.T.I.O.N.S. Tina Gambino Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Pricing: $25 adults; $15 18 and under. Register in advance here.
Where/When: (42 Memorial Plz. Suite One) on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m.
Why go: Enjoy an improv show from LVP's Improv Troupe, along with interactive improv games and the chance to participate in sketches. Costumes are encouraged!

$1 Screening of E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial
Where/When: on Saturday, Oct. 29 and Sunday. Oct. 30 at 12 p.m.
Why go: Enjoy this classic 1982 Steven Spielberg film (rated PG, 115 min.) with the whole family. Kids tickets are just $1 as part of JBFC's celebration.
