POSTPONED: Black Cow Trivia Challenge

Where/When: on Saturday, Aug. 11 at 8 p.m.

Why go: Test your knowledge and compete for prizes at Pleasantville's Black Cow Coffee Company's trivia challenge Saturday night. There will be five rounds of 10 questions and a bonus round. Proceeds from the event will benefit (PCTV). Teams can have up to six people. Captain Lawrence Brewery will be providing beer for participants.

Pricing: $10/person or $50/team of six

Where/When:  on Friday, Aug. 10 at 7 p.m.

Why go: Enjoy a screening of the classic Sleepless in Seattle and light refreshments at the library. Registration is recommended — call 941-7072 or email sglick@wlsmail.org.

Grand Opening

Where/When: Aunt B's Yogurt Bar on Saturday, Aug. 11 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Why go: Join for a grand opening party with 100.7 WHUD, which will be broadcasting live. There will be face painting and a magician for the kids, along with giveaways—including t-shirts, hats and tote bags. There will be a ribbon cutting with Mayor Peter Scherer and the .

Pricing: Free to attend

Where/When: on Wednesday, Aug. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Why go: Pleasantville native and author Peter Altschul will host a signing of his new memoir Breaking Barriers: Working and Loving While Blind at the Washington Avenue bookstore this evening. Books will be available for purchase at the event. Proceeds from the signing will benefit Yorktown organization Guiding Eyes for the Blind in honor of International Assistance Dog Week.

Where/When: Memorial Plaza parking lot on Saturday, Aug. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why go: The Memorial Plaza parking lot starting Thursday for repaving, but the farmers' market will be open as usual. Stock up on seasonal goods and fresh produce at the weekly market.

Pricing: Free to browse

Where/When:  on Saturday, Aug. 11 at 10 a.m.

Why go: This program at Teatown is all about camouflage. Meet some critters and take a hike outside for a game related to camouflaging animals. Register by calling 762-2912 ext. 110.
