As a group fitness instructor, personal trainer and fitness studio owner, the most common question I get from potential clients is, "How long before I see results?" My answer? If you start right now, the rest of your life! As they turn to leave, I tell them becoming fit, or sculpted, or toned, or shaped or whatever they are looking for is not a program it is a lifestyle change. Once you start on your fitness journey, you ride it for the rest of your life.
At this point, I see their eyebrows raise and then we begin the real dialogue. I explain to them that now is the time for you to find different types of exercise programs that you can truly enjoy or at least learn to enjoy and get started. If you truly like jogging or swimming or spinning, or power lifting then start looking for a facility that offers that/those program(s). Next I tell them this is just the beginning of the journey and the hardest part of the journey is changing your lifestyle to incorporate fitness on a regular daily basis. The next step is to match your eating habits with your new fitness journey. Drinking water in ounces that will equal at least half your body weight, ie 100lbs means 50 ounces. I remind them that exercising increases your appetite so eating healthy and often is very important. This is why finding a fitness rountine and facility you truly enjoy is so important.
