Tedd Visits Todd

Students in grades K-2 at Todd Elementary School in the Briarcliff Manor School District were recently treated to a visit by award-winning author/illustrator Tedd Arnold. The visit, which took place in the school’s library, was arranged by library media specialist Tara Phethean and sponsored by the Todd PTA.

A prolific author, Mr. Arnold has published more than 50 picture books over the last 25 years, creatively weaving everyday events into amusing stories. He began each of his four presentations by sharing tales of his early years, first as an artist and then as an author, and used visual aids to explain how his ideas became stories and how these stories created pictures. Engaging the young students with humor and audience participation, he read a variety of his books to the Todd students and created illustrations for them to enjoy and understand his process.

“If you keep drawing, you’ll get better at it,” Mr. Arnold advised students. “If you keep writing, you’ll get better at it. And if you keep reading, you’ll get better at everything.”
