A Name Like a Song: My Sherry &more, Inc.

Every local business has a story worth sharing with the community.

And that’s the belief behind this new, exciting series we’re kicking off at Patch—to shine the spotlight on all our favorite local businesses, and to learn a little about the ones we may not know that well.

This is as much about supporting local businesses as it is about celebrating the places and faces that make our community special.

Business
: My Sherry &More, Inc.
Owner: Judy Brazong
Websitewww.mysherryandmore.com
Address: 1245 Pleasantville Road - Briarcliff Manor, NY  10510

How did you come up with the name?
Sitting in my chair in my living room I thought of the Stevie Wonder song, "My Cherie Amore".  I then saw if I moved the ampersand next to the word "more" it created the illusion of Amore "&more".

Why choose that location? Why start a business in this town?
There was a liquor store for sale that was Very affordable at a great location in Briarcliff Manor.

Briefly, what business are you in?
Wine & artisanal spirits

What's the most difficult moment or challenge you've faced as a business owner?
The fact that the previous owner ran the business into the ground. Many locals still believe that it is still under the same ownership after almost 3 years of rebranding.

Were there any challenges that made you second guess your decision to be an entrepreneur?
Yes, there are a Lot of hours for very little return.

What's been your favorite moment or proudest achievement since opening?
Whenever someone new comes in who found us through the internet.  We have spent years blogging and manipulating the search engines so that we come up on the 1st page in a search.

What's the most innovative idea your employees or customers have had that you put into practice?
We continually seek out new and unique spirits and share this passion with our customers.  We will taste people on our spirits any time they come in.

How do you deal with difficult customers?
That's just it; the people are never the challenge.  We enjoy them.  The challenge is getting more into the store.

How does your business give back or get involved in the community?
We have spent 3 years on the marketing committee of the local Chamber of Commerce and donate cases of wine to all of the local non for profits.
