For anyone who wants to exercise during any hour of the day, there is now a spot to do so in downtown Pleasantville.
a gym franchise with more than 2,000 locations, recently opened at 60
Washington Ave. and held a grand opening ceremony on Friday
afternoon. The ceremony included a ribbon cutting and remarks from
manager Anthony DiFroscia, village Mayor Peter Scherer and
Pleasantville Chamber of Commerce President Bill Flooks.
Anytime Fitness is not a boutique gym or a big one, explained DiFroscia, who grew up in Yorktown and now lives in Peekskill. He described the place to Patch as being a "middle" gym. The site, which has free parking in the back, also gets even turnout from people using the facilities during parts of a day, DiFroscia explained, with about 8-10 people during peak hours.
One of the benefits touted for Anytime Fitness is what members can get keys to open up the gym when they want. They also have access to other AnyTime locations. Nearby locations include Somers and Wilton, CT.
For DiFroscia, the opening was a family event.
very proud of him," said Laura DiFroscia, his mother.
DiFroscia is also not the first entrepreneur in his family. That distinction belongs to his grandfather, Tony DiFroscia, who owns Napoli's Pizza in Mohegan Lake and was at the opening.
Also on hand was Christina Makrakis, who is DiFroscia's girlfriend and is helping out at the gym. The two also have jobs at the Katonah Museum of Art and they share an interest in both art and fitness. It was through the museum that DiFroscia and Makrakis, who grew up in Mount Kisco and lives in Peekskill, met.
Anytime Fitness is located across the street from the Pleasantville firehouse on Washington Avenue and is next door to Cold Stone Creamery.
