Frugal Family: Taking Advantage of Hudson Valley Restaurant Week

More than 150 fine restaurants are accepting reservations now.

From Monday, March 14 through Sunday, March 27, more than 150 restaurants in the mid- and lower-Hudson Valley will offer special three-course lunches for $20 and three-course dinners for $28 (not including beverage, tax and gratuity). There are no passes, tickets or coupons required. Contact restaurants to make reservations.

. Chef New American restaurant offers market-driven food. As their ingredients change, so does their menu. Lunch and dinner (excludes Friday 3/18 Saturday 3/19, Friday 3/25 and Saturday 3/26). (914) 747-4646.

The charm of The starts with its turn of the (19th into 20th) century former train station location. The restaurant received an "excellent" rating from M.H. Reed in the New York Times and a four-and-a-half star review from food writer Gerry Dawes. The 2010 Zagat survey described the Iron Horse Grill as a "class act" that "stands out" for its "superb seasonal cuisine," "dedicated staff" and "quaint setting." Armonk:

Marc Charles Steakhouse was voted a 2010 Best of Westchester restaurant in Westchester Magazine. Chef Marc Mazarulli’s steakhouse is located the in the renovated restaurant space in the La Quinta Hotel in the Westchester Business Park. Dinner only. (914) 273-2700.

Moderne Barn. Four years in the making, the Livanos family opened the doors of the “urban country chic” Moderne Barn in the summer of 2010. Executive Chef Ethan Kostbar uses a “Mediterranean, New American” approach to showcase ingredients with simplicity and seasonality in the Kim Nathanson-designed synthesis of country and industrial. Restaurant North. Restaurant North's Chef/Partner Eric Gabrynowicz received a "Nation Rising Star Chef" Nomination for the 2011 James Beard Awards for what is described as New American farm-to- table fare.
