Back To School Concerns...Help Your Child Cope

Quick note: I received many comments on- and offline from parents requesting a Bullyproof Seminar. I will announce time and date as soon as details are set.

School starts in just 3 weeks on September 9th. What do you think the top concerns are about getting your child ready to go back to school...besides buying supplies, summer projects completed, and bullying? Hey, I’ve been there too.

  • Getting children out of bed

  • Homework

  • Getting enough physical activity

  • Bullying

  • Children on the other hand worry about fitting in, especially in a new school, challenging school work, teacher relationships, and bullying.

While Martial Arts can not solve all our woes, learning discipline, respect, self-control, focus, self-confidence, and improving fitness are invaluable to your son or daughter’s ability to cope. Learning Taekwondo involves much more than the physical aspects of punching, blocking and kicking. Integral to the learning process at UMAC is applying these Martial Art Values and learning to live a Black Belt Life.

Students become goal-oriented in their quest to earn a Black Belt; they are motivated. The focus and discipline needed to attend class, listen to the instructors, practice the moves and forms, and test for each belt are transferable skills which enable students to apply this same focus and discipline to their school, homework, and personal lives. Children are motivated to succeed. And with each belt earned, students build self-confidence in their abilities to reach goals and to handle themselves in difficult situations.

If you are looking to help you child enhance their self-discipline, respect, focus, integrity, perseverance, and self-control behaviors, then please call (915) 945--7100 to setup a convenient time to visit our school, watch a class and ask questions. We are here to help you and your children and offer a 2-week introductory program.

And if you are wondering what you are going to do with your child during the week before school starts, UMAC is offering our Get Back in the Groove Camp - SEE FLYER!

I will post my blog every Monday, starting September 9th, providing insights on "Living a Black Belt Life". Please share this with your friends and family, leave a comment, and recommend this article.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve you!
