Extensive Catering Menu Is Introduced by MP Taverna

MP Taverna, a Greek-inspired restaurant, caught on quickly after it opened in Irvington a year ago for good reason. Simply put, the meals prepared in executive chef Michael Psilakis' kitchen so dazzled patron's taste buds, many soon returned to see if other dishes on the menu were just as delightful. MP Taverna richly deserved its early success.

Now an extensive catering menu is being offered by the restaurant's sister operation called MP Stop&Go, located around the corner from the restaurant. All catering orders are prepared in the same kitchen used by MP Taverna.

This catering menu has Italian, Mediterranean, American and Greek selections ranging from basic to exotic. Popular American breakfast items are included such as pancakes, French toast and bagels with cream-cheese-and-lox. Roasted leg of lamb and grilled London broil head the entree choices on the hot-bar specialty list.

To help viewers find appropriate items for special events, I have prepared the following list of suggestions. Many items are available in half trays that typically serve six to eight people and full trays that can accommodate 12 to 15 people.

If in doubt, I recommend the Greek meatballs—without question, the most delicious meatballs I have ever tasted. They come seasoned with Greek oregano and are topped with ladolemeno or tomato olive sauce.

Here are some suggestions for special occasions or palate preferences:

Birthday party for small children. Chicken fingers. Buttermilk-brined, battered and fried golden brown; served with MP signature barbecue sauce or honey roasted sauce ($35 half tray, $50 tray).
