The has welcomed Allison Langer as its new director of youth and teen services.
"I started working as a camp counselor when I was still in high school, and I am still amazed and awed by how [children] have as much to teach me as I have to teach them," Langer said in a statement.
Langer most recently continued to work in a summer camp asetting as director of teen services and assistant director at the JCC's Camp Discovery.
"We couldn’t be more thrilled that Allison has accepted this position at the Rosenthal JCC," said Executive Director Ellie Aronowitz. "She has proven herself time and again to be amazingly in tune with and sensitive to families’ needs in developing high-quality programs and services. She has an uncanny ability to relate with both youth and parents. Allison is a mentor and a mentsch."
In addition to continuing her work with the teenage programs at the JCC, Langer is taking on responsibility of all after school programs, including, "the After School PLUS childcare program, After School Specialty Classes, Vacation Mini-Camps, PlAyCaRe (as-needed child care) and Religious School Transportation," according to the statement.
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to get to know the After School Program families this coming year, and to partner with parents in helping their children grow and develop," Langer said. "I have chosen a career of working with children because I believe that making a difference in a child’s life is the most meaningful thing in the world."
