Chabad of Briarcliff

Hatzalah visited Chabad of Briarcliff Hebrew School Hatzolah, The well known and imitable Jewish ambulance service visited Chabad of Briarcliff Hebrew School this past Sunday.

24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year you can count on Hatzalah, the Jewish ambulance service with branches throughout the world, to respond to medical emergencies within the areas where they operate.  Manhattan, Brooklyn, Rockland and Riverdale are some of the areas which they service.

Mr. Solomon Rosenberg, a member of Hatzalah for over twenty years, came to Chabad of Briarcliff Hebrew School to speak about the life saving work which he and his organization do. Hatzolah is known for reaching the emergencey site in record time , thereby dramatically increasing the survival rate of their patients. Over 1000 trained paramedic volunteers can intubate patients, deliver babies, and stabilize vital signs etc.

Mr. Rosenberg explained that the greatest mitzvah a person can do is to save a life. Even if it means violating the Sabbath or the holiest day of the year, saving a life take precedence over everything. Just this past Yom kippur alone, he went on four separate calls to do his life saving work. He was still fasting well after people were enjoying their break fast meal because he was so busy.

Mr. Rosenberg also demonstrated to the children somoe of the equipment that he uses on his calls including the contents of his $30,000 medical emergency bag (life pak 12). It’s a manual diffibulator, does external pace maker, 12 leed ekg, monitors blood pressure, monitor oxygen levels in the blood as well as C02 levels in the blood.

Our goal at Hebrew school is to ingrain in the children the fundamental concepts of Tzedakah and Ahavat Yisrael- charity and the love of a fellow. What greater way to do this than to see live examples of these qualities? Individuals like Mr. Rosenberg are the finest role models to our children of people who devote their heart and souls to their communities.

Following his presentation, the children were introduced to a Tzedakah contest which will run for the next three weeks. During this time, Each child will collect his own Tzedakah money and bring it to Hebrew school. The class which collects the most money will be treated to a special prize. The monies collected will be donated to Hatzalah for the purchase of a new life pack.
