Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center to Perform November 2

The
Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (CMS) will perform works of Dvor ak,
Schumann, and Brahms as part of Friends of Music Concerts' continuing 60th anniversary celebration on Saturday, November 2 at 8pm at Kusel Auditorium at
Sleepy Hollow High School. Since its founding in 1969, the Chamber Music Society has provided listeners with a comprehensive view of the art of chamber
music. Its musicians all are renowned artists individually; together they are formidable. www.chambermusicsociety.org.

When CMS
began, the string quartet dominated live chamber music. CMS started performing works not often heard. Since then, the world of chamber music has changed
dramatically, with ensembles across the country in varying instrumental
combinations. Having started with nine performers, CMS now has 35 artists,
including young talents joining CMS through Chamber Music Society Two, a
competitive three-year residency program. Its annual activities include

nationally televised performances on Live from Lincoln Center, a nationwide

radio show and regular appearances on American Public Media's Performance

Today.

In 2004,
David Finckel, former cellist with the Emerson String Quartet, and his wife Wu
Han were named the Society's Artistic Directors. Mr. Finckel will be among the musicians appearing at this November 2 concert. The group will also include
pianist Juho Pohjonen, violinists Arnaud Sussmann and Kristin Lee, and violist
Paul Neubauer.
