First Concert of the Fall Season at Pleasantville’s Emanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church

Erickson in Organ Recital Sunday, October 6 at 4pm


PLEASANTVILLE,
NY, Sept. 28, 2013 – Distinguished organist Rick Erickson will be performing a
special recital on Emanuel Lutheran Church’s newly built, custom Kegg Pipe Organ
at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 197 Manville Road, Pleasantville, NY at 4:00 pm EST
on October 6, 2013.


Mr. Erickson has appeared in the United States, Germany, Sweden, Australia and New Zealand as recitalist, hymn festival leader, conductor, and lecturer. He has performed for conventions of the American Guild of Organists, the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians and the Pastoral Musicians Association, among others. The New Yorker has hailed his playing as exhibiting “exemplary Bach.”

Mr. Erickson currently serves as Cantor at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New York City, a post he has held since 1992. In addition to overseeing the musical life of the parish, he also directs the distinguished Bach Vespers series, the oldest series of its kind in the United States, presenting Bach Cantatas weekly in the context of Vespers.

Prior to Holy Trinity, Mr. Erickson served as Director of Music for 14 years at Incarnate Word Lutheran Church in Rochester, NY. A native of northern Wisconsin, he holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin, Superior, and the Eastman School of Music. He is also an Associate in Ministry in The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

The concert is free and open to all, no tickets required. Free-will offerings will be accepted.
