Free traditional Japanese music concert

Please come to enjoy authentic Japanese traditional music played on Tsugaru-Jamisen, by a master player Shamimaster Shishido (Mr. Kouzan Oyama) from Tokyo, Japan.

The shamisen is an instrument that's been around for a long time in Japan. It's about 1 meter (3 feet) long and has three strings that are played using a large pick called a bachi. There are many types of shamisen in Japan, Tsugaru-Jamisen is known for its louder sound and percussive techniques enabling quick passage possible.
The tsugaru jamisen 's unique style of play and sounds give performers room to improvise. A lot of people say it's similar to jazz in that way. "Tsugaru Jamisen is the jazz of Japan," claims one of the top artists in the genre.
