Briarcliff's Nikki Metzger Recognized for Service

The recent BHS graduate founded the annual Fire & Ice Skate-a-Thon and has volunteered with the Special Olympics.

Briarcliff Manor's Nikki Metzger has been raising funds for Erythromelalgia (EM) research since she was 12-years-old and has been nominated for a New York State 40th Senate District Woman of Distinction award.

Metzger is one of 22 nominees From Sen. Greg Ball (R, C, I — Patterson)'s district, which includes the Mount Pleasant portion of Briarcliff Manor, as well as Pleasantville.

This year marks Ball's second annual Women of Distinction Hall of Fame and will include a recognition ceremony for the Westchester and Putnam women on September 8.

According to Ball's website, "Metzger has raised more than $43,000 over the past seven years" for Erythromelalgia research, a cause she took up when her best friend was diagnosed with the rare condition.

At Briarcliff High School, Metzger was involved with the National Honor Society, Math Honor Society and High Honor Roll. The recent graduate will be studying engineering at Washington University in St. Louis this fall.
