Kate Sanzenbacher of Briarcliff Manor Joins Board of Open Door Foundation

(Ossining, NY – July 18, 2014) Laura Mogil, the newly elected Chair of the Open Door Foundation Board has announced the appointment of two new members to the Board. Ms. Mogil, a resident of Briarcliff, has been on the Foundation Board since 2010. She is an account executive at Harrison Edwards PR & Marketing in Bedford Hills.

Daniel R. Ross of Rye, NY is currently Managing Director of ArcWell Management Services, a healthcare organization based in New York City that provides services related to post-acute and long-term care physician staffing. Before founding ArcWell in 2008, Mr. Ross in 1996 co-founded Allegiance Health, a physician network providing medical claims handling services to the insurance industry. 

After leading Allegiance Health for eight years, in 2004 Mr. Ross sold that organization to Hooper Holmes, Inc., a public company, where he served as Executive Vice-President. Before founding Allegiance Health, Mr. Ross spent 13 years in the investment banking industry, largely at Salomon Brothers (now part of Citigroup.

While at Salomon, Mr. Ross was involved in establishing standards for the derivatives industry, and co-authored The Interest Rate Swap Market: Yield Mathematics, Terminology and Conventions (Salomon Brothers Inc., 1985). Prior to his investment banking career, Mr. Ross practiced law with Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York City.

Mr. Ross graduated from The University of Virginia School of Law, where he was an editor of the Virginia Law Review, and Harvard University. He maintains bar affiliations in Virginia and New York. He is currently on the board of governors of Shenorock Shore Club in Rye, New York, and is a volunteer advisor of recent college graduates through the Harvard Alumni Association. 

He has recently retired as a member of the board of directors of Summit Preparatory School in Kalispell, Montana, and is a former member of the North London Board of the Prince’s Youth Business Trust, an organization providing mentorship for young entrepreneurs in the United Kingdom.

Kate Sanzenbacher of Briarcliff Manor, NY is a lifelong Westchester resident and volunteer. She attended Hobart and William Smith colleges, and received a Master’s in education from Marymount University. Working as a special education teacher in Arlington, Virginia, she ran a community service program to get children involved at a young age with those in need. Kate joined the Junior League of Westchester on Hudson in 2000, and was a board member for two years. She has served twice on the Phelps Hospital Ball Committee, and for the last five years has volunteered at the Cottage School in Pleasantville, N.Y. She is on the board of the Metropolitan Intra Tennis league.

In 1990, the Open Door Foundation, Inc. was established as a 501(c)3 to solicit and administer contributions and grants for the benefit of Open Door Family Medical Centers and programs that promote community health to underserved residents and those lacking access to health care.

 

About Open Door Family Medical Centers

Open Door, winner of the 2012 New York Nonprofit Excellence Award, has received the highest Recognition as a Patient-Centered Medical Home™ (PPC-PCMH™) from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). 

This ranking distinguishes them from medical practices across the nation as less than 12% are presently eligible to achieve this advanced standing. For more than 40 years, the federally qualified community health center has served a multi-cultural community and has provided top quality medical, dental care and social services to the Westchester community, particularly the economically disadvantaged. Open Door has four centers in Westchester located in Ossining, Port Chester, Mt. Kisco and Sleepy Hollow. In addition, 

Open Door operates five school-based health centers in Port Chester at The Edison Elementary School, Park Avenue School, the John F. Kennedy Elementary School, Port Chester Middle School and Port Chester High School. In 2013, 49,470 patients were treated at Open Door, making 210,615 patient visits.  In the same year, 15,235 youth, 19 years-old and under, were treated.  In 2012 Open Door, with partners New York Medical College and Phelps Memorial Hospital Center, launched the NYMC Phelps Family Medicine Residency Program along with a Dental Residency Program. 

The Family Medicine Residency is the first accredited family medicine residency to be established in New York State since 1995. In February 2013 Open Door opened an office in Brewster, NY, the first community health center in Putnam County. Funding for Open Door Family Medical Centers comes from local, state and federal grants as well as private foundations and individuals.
