Nonprofits Partner with Westchester Cycle Club to Give Foster Kids Free Bikes

The Westchester Cycle Club has joined forces with Linking Handlebars to give foster kids the opportunity have a free bike of their very own.

The Rye-based nonprofit Linking Handlebars, along with The Westchester Cycle Club (WCC), is giving dozens of Westchester County foster children a free bicycle and helmet as part of the "Bikes4Kids" program, according to the Westchester Government's website.

Ten children from four to 15-years-old received the first set of bikes at an event at the White Plains YMCA. Donations are ongoing and more children will recevie free bikes as part of the program.

Twenty local bike shops have signed on as partners of the Bikes4Kids program. People can donate gently used bicycles directly to WCC. The bikes are refurbished before presenting them to the children.
