The annual event hosted by puzzlemaster Will Shortz benefits Pleasantville Fund For Learning.

The Westchester Table Tennis Center in Pleasantville played host to the 16th Annual Westchester Crossword Puzzle Tournament Friday night—and more than 50 wordsmiths from across the northeast came to compete.

Directed by the center's Co-Owner Will Shortz, The New York Times' crossword editor, competitors tackled three unpublished New York Times puzzles in timed segments with those solving each puzzle the fastest moving on to a championship puzzle.

Prizes were awarded in several categories including youngest and oldest competitors, first-timers, and local residents. The tournament benefitted the Pleasantville Fund For Learning.
