Pleasantville's Scott Elliott Chosen for Veterans Hall of Fame

The initiative, spearheaded by Sen. Greg Ball, is in its third year.

West Point Graduate and Pleasantville resident Scott Elliott has been chosen to represent the village in the 40th Senate District’s 3rd Annual Veterans’ Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame, created by Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I — Patterson), came about three years ago as a means of recognizing the veterans in the area.

"I created the Veterans’ Hall of Fame to honor outstanding individuals who have nobly and selflessly served the United States of America. Nominated by their communities, these heroic men and women have pursued a distinguished path in both their military and civilian lives, demonstrating admirable qualities and reaching great achievements worthy of this recognition," Ball said in a statement. "These extraordinary veterans devoted their lives to a cause greater than one’s self, nobly dedicating themselves to preserving the safety and freedom of the American people through acts of courage, honor and integrity."

Pleasantville's Captain Elliott was a football player during his time at West Point, according to a biography on Ball's website.

He "...was deployed to Iraq with an assignment to the Brigade Reconnaissance Troop, where he was a scout platoon leader and completed 'snatch and grab' missions in Baghdad," the site reads. "Captain Elliot currently serves as a mentor for the American Corporate Partners, an organization that helps newly discharged veterans to adjust to corporate life and is the Vice-Commander of the Pleasantville Fancher Nicoll American Legion Post 77."

Also in the area, Hawthorne's Sergeant E-5 Joseph Tanzi and Mount Pleasant residents Petty Officer Ronald Rose and Corporal Edmund Burke were selected for this year's Hall of Fame.

The more than 20 residents from District 40 who are part of this year's Hall of Fame will be formally accepted at a Thursday, Nov. 21 ceremony in Mahopac.

Each will also be included on a traveling wall that will tour the district.

Pleasantville's Elliott and his wife Vivian have two children.
