Photos: Pleasantville High School Instrumentalists Brave the Cold

Weather ultimately cancelled an encore performance -- but not before students put on a show.

Carolers and instrumentalists from the Pleasantville High School went from door-to-door to the shops with Santa in downtown Pleasantville before performing on Saturday, Dec. 14 – during a snowstorm.

From 11 a.m. to noon, student musicians from Pleasantville, Westlake, and Valhalla schools were featured alongside Pleasantville High School Band Director Thomas Hentzelman, and Ed Elliot from the Pleasantville Chamber of Commerce at the Bandstand in Memorial Plaza.

The instrumentalists were to scheduled to perform again in the old village in front of Michael's from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., but the snow did not let up.

“Unfortunately the second session that was to be performed in front of Michael's Restaurant had to be canceled due to problem with some of the instruments having their valves freeze, and that the music was not waterproof, and would not have survived to use again next year,” said Elliott.
