For some time I have been getting my required exercise by walking about. As I do I find that there is much litter on the side of the road and on the entry and exits to the highways. I have taken it upon myself to use my waking time more effectively, by carrying a bucket and picker to lift litter into the bucket. It is quite satisfying and I accomplish a bit more than a huff and a puff from the walk. My bucket fills quite rapidly so I carry a plastic bag, and put stuff in the bag. Often I find litter baskets in town to dump my bucket as I go along.
It might be more efficient and beautifying for the town if more walkers would enjoy the pleasure of making their path cleaner. They could then take the pride, ownership and sense of accomplishment I get from these activities. Some times I wonder, am I motivated by the exercise and its benefits, or the fact that my section of town is a bit cleaner. I will be writing more about this and some of the ideas I have. I would be pleased to hear from other who might want to get involved in the simplest way.
