Briarcliff Rotary Organizes Program on "Preventative Health and Awareness"

The Rotary Club of Briarcliff Manor has organized a presentation by Dr. Erica Jones, Cardiologist, on cardiovascular health in the Briarcliff Library at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2013.

The Rotary Club of Briarcliff Manor will run a "Preventative Health and Awareness" Program to help people understand common health issues and adopt habits and lifestyle changes for healthy living. The first in this series will focus on cardiovascular health, and will be held in the Briarcliff Library at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2013.  Admission is free, and open to the community.

Dr. Erica Jones, a cardiologist is the featured speaker for this presentation.  She will address issues such as how to best prevent and/or treat cardiovascular disease, including heart attack, stroke, and peripheral arterial disease.

Dr. Jones is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center where she is the Director of the Inpatient Telemetry Unit at and the Director of the Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease.  She has been an academic clinician for 18 years and cares for patients with all forms of cardiovascular disease, including hypertension, coronary artery disease, valvular disease, heart failure and arrhythmia. She is responsible for the curriculum of the medicine residents, students and cardiology fellows who rotate on the telemetry floor at Cornell.

Dr. Jones is the recipient of the Sanford B. Ehrenkranz Family Clinical Scholar in Women’s Health and is on the executive committee of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Campaign. She is also a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, and American College of Cardiology.

The Briarcliff Rotary plans to make this a monthly Program, and will feature knowledgeable speakers on various aspects of health, such as nutrition, exercise, disease-prevention, and healthy life-styles.  The Rotary Club is pleased to present this opportunity in the interest of enhancing the health of community members.
