Conflict Resolution Strategies for Healthy Communities: International Peace Educator to Address Briarcliff Rotary

Dr. Arthur Romano, international peace-educator, consultant and certified nonviolence trainer, will be the featured speaker at the Rotary Club of Briarcliff Manor at its meeting on January 4, 2013.

Dr. Romano was a recipient of the Peace Fellowship of Rotary International at the University of Bradford (2004 - '06), where he also earned his doctorate in 2012.  He has implemented innovative educational programs in Africa, South America, Asia, Europe, and the United States.  Those programs have supported thousands of students in learning practical strategies for building healthy communities, becoming global leaders, and productively engaging with conflict.  He is currently a professor of Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University.  He was one of the acclaimed speakers at the UN Day organized by Rotary International at the United Nations on November 3, 2012.

Dr. Romano will talk on "Conflict Resolution Strategies for Healthy Communities."  The talk will be of considerable interest to residents interested in supporting local peace and conflict resolution projects, as well as thinking through strategies for utilizing social entrepreneurship to support local peace project.  "We are excited at being able to provide this opportunity to learn about this all-important issue of conflict resolution with such a renowned, international figure," said Rotarian President Kris Chittur.
