Briarcliff Rotary Awards Scholarships to Graduating Seniors at BMHS

The Rotary Club of Briarcliff Manor announced the winners of its two Annual Scholarship Awards for the graduating class of 2013.

The Briarcliff Manor Rotary Leonard Young Community Service Award was given to Ms. Nicole Metzger.  Ms. Metzger raised over $43,000 over the years as the founder and chair of Skate-a-Thon, a charity that focuses on raising monies for rare medical illnesses.  She has also spent much time as the Co-Chair of Skating for the Special Olympics of CT.  Nikki is slated to attend Washington University in St. Louis in the Fall.

The Briarcliff Manor Rotary Community Service Award was given to Marissa Contento.  Ms. Contento has worked for over ten years with the Girl Scouts in projects that supported US soldiers in Iraq, veterans in local VA hospitals, and senior citizens in our community and in nursing homes.  She also founded the BHS chapter of the American Red Cross Club.  Ms. Contento will be attending Cornell University in the Fall.

The awards were presented at the High School Awards Ceremony on May 20th, 2013, on behalf of the Club by Past President and Briarcliff Rotary Scholarship Chair Eric Lebenson.  The Club awards these scholarships to Briarcliff High School seniors who have shown exemplary involvement in community service activities.  The Club is delighted with the accomplishments of these promising young women of our community and wishes them well in working for a better world.
