I am a full-time working mother who does it all without full-time help. I do have a great support system with family and a slew of after school sitters who help out. I am the Main Mama in charge, I juggle everyone’s schedule as well as my own, I cook, I clean…okay, okay I do have someone who helps out in that area once a week, but as you know once a week is never enough. Aside from my main role at home, I manage a progressive pediatric dental practice in Tuckahoe, NY. Having a degree in Dental Hygiene, when I became pregnant with Nicholas, I realized while Dental Hygiene was a great career choice for a mother, I needed something that provided flexibility when needed, and that I wanted to break out of the four walls of an operatory before I stopped loving being a hygienist. That being said, I took some managing courses and had started to work with a few practices in Westchester helping them build their businesses.
Right after Nicholas was born, I was approached to oversee the project of a renovation in our practice and then give up my role as a hygienist and undertake the role of Office Manager. I then joined the American Association of Dental Office Managers, and decided I would persue a fellowship within the Association. Two years after we completed our renovation, we decided we needed more space so that our practice could continue to grow. I was then asked to spear head the search for a new space, we found a spot on Main Street Hmmmm. Right away “Main Attraction” came to me and our dream of Main Street Pediatric Dentistry began.
Overseeing such a project during a time when the internet is being used as such a powerful tool, I realized that the power of social media sites, google ads and ratings were something that interested me. We started our website, made a facebook page, and our bi-weekly newsletters began. Realizing that I have a main platform of moms to reach, I decided that maybe the blogosphere was another main attraction for me to look into.
I spoke to Jen, owner of Mommy’s Links, who has been one of my best friends for a long time. We decided it was time for this Main Mama to share her knowledge, joys and pains with you. Just like you, I walk down Main Street USA everyday, sometimes doing it all and sometimes barely doing it. But at the end of the day we are the Main Mamas to that special someone.
I welcome you all to share my Main Street USA, and look forward to being a part of yours.
Main Street Mama is where you can be kept in the know on all the Main events.
